In addition to Edit:Undo, this year’s Cappies International Theater will feature other works of high school student playwrights in two sets of shows in July: Starz! and Playz!

Starz! will feature songs of past year’s Cappies National Theater shows, along with these monologues and comic sketches by student playwrights:

  • “Ave Aetas” - Lindsay Ferrentino, East Coast Florida

  • “Bob’s Self-Evaluation” - Lindsay Ferrentino, East Coast Florida

  • “Catharsis” - Veronica Siverd, Cincinnati

  • “Dingy Cat” - J.P. Mohler, National Capital Area

  • “Fishing Monologue” - Lindsay Ferrentino, East Coast Florida

  • “A Hero’s Shadow” - by Sara Aultman, National Capital Area

  • “June Decided to Sit” - Oana Moraru, Ottawa

  • “Les Arbres Cachent Le Foret” - Veronica Siverd, Cincinnati

  • “Rhubarb for Rudolph” - Mende Jo Wentzel, National Capital Area

  • “Neon Graveyard” - Taya Kenny, Orange County CA

  • “Of Mice and Mousetraps” - by Daniel Clay, Springfield MO

Playz! will feature these short plays by student playwrights:

  • “A Thousand Ways to Skin a Cat” - Noah Camenker, Orlando

  • “A Meal Fit for a Viking” - Taya Kenny, Orange County CA

  • “Ink, Oil, Muse” - Brett Smith, National Capital Area

  • “Realpolitika!” - Guy Yebwab, Orange County CA

  • “One Star Faction” - Adrian Madriz, South Florida

  • “Suddenly Sideways” - Caitlin Murphy, National Capital Area

  • “The Normals” - Katie Sheldon, Cincinnati

  • “The Balloon Man” - Joanne Mosuela, NCA

  • “Solidifying Realism” - Lindsay Ferrentino, East Coast Florida

  • “Chicken Soup for the Disembodied Soul” - Jay Richardson, National Capital Area

  • “Waitlisted” - Christine Gahagan, Matthew Aument, Karen O’Connell, Deanna Zapanta, National Capital Area

Starz! will be presented at 2 PM Sunday, July 23, at WT Woodson High School in Fairfax, VA ($10), and at 7:30 PM Monday, July 24, at the Alden Theater in McLean, VA ($15).

Playz! will be presented at 2 PM Sunday, July 30, at WT Woodson High School in Fairfax, VA ($10), and at 7 PM Monday, July 24, at the Theater Lab of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. ($20).
